EPC stakeholders

Major stakeholders in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects are key individuals or groups who have an interest in the project’s outcome and can influence or be affected by its activities. They play crucial roles throughout the project lifecycle.

Here are the major stakeholders in EPC projects:

  • Client/Owner: The entity commissioning the project. They define the vision, scope, budget, and objectives, and ultimately receive the completed facility.
  • EPC Contractor: The primary contractor responsible for the entire project lifecycle, including detailed engineering, procurement of all materials and equipment, and construction/installation, often on a lump-sum turnkey basis.
  • Subcontractors: Companies hired by the EPC contractor to perform specialized tasks within the project, such as civil works, electrical installation, piping fabrication, or specific equipment installation.
  • Vendors/Suppliers: Businesses that provide materials, equipment, and components necessary for the project.
  • Consultants:
    • Owner’s Engineer: Represents the client’s interests, providing technical oversight, design reviews, and quality assurance.
    • Independent Verifier: Third-party consultants who ensure compliance with standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Financial Institutions: Banks, investors, or other organizations providing the funding for the project.
  • Regulatory Bodies & Government Authorities: Government agencies responsible for issuing permits, licenses, and ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and building codes.
  • Local Communities: Individuals and groups living near the project site who may be affected by the construction activities (e.g., noise, traffic, environmental impact) and who might also benefit from the project.
  • Project Management Team: The internal team within the EPC contractor (and sometimes the client) responsible for the day-to-day planning, execution, monitoring, and control of the project.
  • End-Users: The individuals or groups who will ultimately operate or benefit from the completed facility.
